I used three lbs. of Yukon potatoes. I kept the butter amount the same, but but used 4 oz. of foam cheese. I didn't take fresh chives so I used most a tablespoon of stale. I only used i/iii c. of parmesan cheese and added 1/4 c. of hot whole milk. I also upped the garlic just a bit, to two minced cloves. With my alterations, these are KILLER. Even my husband who isn't huge on dinner compliments raved nigh these and went back for seconds. They are and so rich and decadent. I wouldn't make them all the time merely every now and again is a squeamish modify from my standard mashed potato recipe. This mashed spud dish compliments the Awesome Pot Roast really well. EDITED TO ADD 10/07/08: I suggest you try my modifications, double the recipe and swallow the leftovers the next day. They are insane adept.
I would requite the flavor of these potatoes 5 stars. I would give the recipe as written three stars-- my compromise is four. I used 3# of potatoes for 3 people and we had a adept scrap leftover. I eyeballed the other ingredients and kept tasting them until information technology had the flavor I wanted. They're very adept, simply the recipe is style off as written.
I surprised no one else questioned this, only the recipe says to utilise 1 pound of potatoes. 1 pound of potatoes is probably one tater. I used 8 since information technology was supposed to make 8 servings. I had to employ twice as much butter and add together milk just to be able to stir the potatoes. I besides just used about half the garlic it called for and it was withal extremely potent. It was ok, but I won't make it again.
Made exactly according to the recipe, the consistency is like gum. Way too much cheese for the amount of potatoes. If I made these again I would follow the advice of other reviewers who recommend scaling dorsum on the amount of cream cheese and adding some milk.
This recipe was very succulent! To brand the mixture more garlicky, I boiled several garlic cloves with the potatoes; when they were soft they were easier to blend with the mixture. I, similar previous others, thought the mixture needed some added smoothness. Milk solved the problem.
So I cheated a little and consolidated this recipe with the "night-before" mashed irish potato recipe... I had to make them for Thanksgiving (which was at my aunt's house, about two hours abroad, and to avert traffic, we had to get upwards and drive there 10 hrs before dinner would be served). Only SUBSTITUTING half the parmesan cheese for information technology'due south equivalence of sour cream, garlic salt for the garlic since I didn't have any on hand, omitted the chives for the aforementioned reason, garnished with sprinkles of paprika, freshly grated common salt and pepper, then baked the refrigerated mashed potatoes at 350 degrees, for 15-20 minutes... THEY WERE A HUGE HIT! Creamy, whipped-similar, and flavorful. People who said that they didn't fifty-fifty LIKE mashed potatoes went back for seconds! I was nominated official mashed potato maker for every holiday occasion =) And there were leftovers of almost every other dish, except for these, which was almost licked off the unabridged tray, AND people were still asking if in that location were more. I had tripled the recipe! You just tin can't go wrong. Cheers for the recipe thought!
These are so like shooting fish in a barrel that I make them all the fourth dimension. I do have to add a fleck of milk considering they tend to get a little dry out. I also like to add some shredded cheese (for cheese lover husband). These are swell. Thanks for posting.
realy good, i add a bit of sour cream into the mix and their perfect
Very skillful flavor, merely consistency was not what I was expecting. Agree that you need to scale dorsum on the cheese and add together some milk to achieve more creamy texture. I'll definitely make once more with the adjustments.
the key here and with whatever mashed potato recipe is to return the drained potato to the stove and on a depression heat Dry out THEM added moisture always makes potatoes like gum !!!
I've cutting the parmesean cheese corporeality in half and added milk. Otherwise these are just too dry and viscous. I also reccommend light cream cheese likewise.
Added 1/ii cup sour cream. Used russets. Will try yukon golds next time. Best mashed potatoes!
I've tried several mashed spud recipes from this website, but this is the first one like what I've been looking for! These are dumbo, rich, creamy mashed potatoes like the ones I enjoy at nice restaurants. They are definitely non the healthiest, which is why I cannot make them very ofttimes. My boyfriend besides agrees that they're first-class :)
3 lbs of potaots, iv oz cream cheese, 1/2 c parmesian cheese, 1/four c. hot milk, 1 t cloves and butter and garlic. Topped with cheddar cheese.
Okay, I am not a swell cook - No, I mean it! This was my kickoff try at making homemade mashed potatos and I but take to say that it was fantastic! This recipe is soooooo easy and the results were really tasty. I followed the recipe to the letter and they were delicious. My kids were so impressed. Give thanks yous for sharing this!
No vampires at my house! If you lot like garlic you will love these. If you lot want to proceed your wife from passing out when you speak y'all will roast your garlic in the oven (wrapped in foil) for well-nigh 45 mins before you lot add it to this wonderful recipe.
It'southward a great recipe but y'all MUST Add together MILK, Sour foam or fifty-fifty 1/two and 1/2 or heavy cream! That's where the "fluffiness" comes from.
Very practiced! Cheers for sharing the recipe.
hmmm, do ameliorate potatoes exist? No, not likely. The all-time I've ever made. No question about information technology. Changes.... less cream cheese, less parmesan. Merely taste it equally you go to detect your perfect gustation. Yummy.
This recipe is outstanding, very corrupt, and not low cal so don't make it also oft and enjoy thoroughly equally all those you share it will. I have fabricated this several times and last time I boiled the potatoes with the garlic (four whole cloves) in leftover chicken broth but kept the recipe the aforementioned.
I made this for Thanksgiving and no one could become the mashed potatoes off their spoons it was that thick. Perhaps I used besides much cream cheese ??? It was thick paste!
This recipe is crawly! I cooked it for my whole family unit. I also added green oinions, instead of chives. Not the best salubrious recipe, simply if you want a "fatty mean solar day", here information technology is!
I brand this for pot luck and the holidays. I'm going to requite you lot my recipe every bit I have now fabricated this for almost 20 years! 5 lbs Yukon gilt potatoes salted and boiled with 4 cloves garlic, i loving cup heavy cream,1 8oz cream cheese, 1 1/two cup butter, ane cup Parmesan cheese, two tablespoons garlic pulverization, 1/2 cup of fresh chives, salt and pepper to taste. Brand sure to go yours because they get devoured. I establish these to be less gummy then the recipe as written.
I made this for thanksgiving and they where a huge hitting!! Everyone loved them and wanted to know the recipe :)
Delish! They were really thick and so I added a decent bit of milk. In the hereafter, I would cut it downwards to 1 cup of cream cheese and 1/3 or one/4 head of garlic. Merely all in all, I'll definitely exist making these again! A fantastic recipe to toy around with.
Keen flavor, simply as well dry. I would either add milk or skip the "drying" role or both. Otherwise, I honey the combination of the Yukon, Parm and cream cheese.
I thought it was yummy, and then much more interesting than apparently old mashed potatoes.
These were voted 5 stars by all at my dinner table this evening! I had to add quite a fleck of milk every bit they came out very thick. I did use 3 lbs of potatoes and adjusted the parmesan. I used roasted garlic, eight oz. of softened foam cheese, and ane/2 container of freeze dried chives. iv stars for the ingredients, and 5 subsequently I adjusted the ratios.
Didn't like the texture. Flavor was good, but they were pasty. I'll try sour cream instead of foam cheese instead next time.
Great potatoes. Being a recent college grade and having no electrical manner to beat these beasts was hard. Higher took a cost on my upper body strength.
YUMMY!!! Thank you for this fantastic recipe!!
Incredibly like shooting fish in a barrel, and wonderful flavor. I will exist replacing my stand-by recipe with this ane!
My family really loved this dish. It was made for Christmas. Information technology may have had a bit too much garlic in it. I would make it with a scrap less side by side time.
Wow, I was then impressed with this recipe. I accept never made my own Mashed Potatoes before, and this was relatively easy, and incredibly delicious. I followed the advice of other reviewers and doubled the milk and butter, which made it perfect!!!
I loved the amount of garlic and chives in this recipe. We left out the cream cheese but they were amazing even without it. They were even better the next day.
I added milk and left out the cream cheese and it was nevertheless way too thick for our liking.
I just made these terminal night and my family unit loved it. I did add together a footling milk to thin it out. But information technology was wonderful...
These are truely The Best Mashed Potatoes. The proper noun of this recipe does non lie. I made this recipe just this past Thanksgiving, and everyone went back for seconds. I also made it again only last night. I would highly recommend these potatoes with the Aussie Chicken another All Recipes Recipe...............Both Top Favorite Recipes at my house.
This was a hit with our family. We have one fellow member who does not swallow mashed potatoes as a rule and thought these were outstanding.
I idea these were pretty expert. Just I was extremely surprised there is non milk or cream in them. I followed the directions as written and they were way to dry. I added a whole pint of heavy whipping cream and they came out awesome. I volition definitely make these again with the added cream.
The All-time mashed potatoes!! They are so creamy and delicious!
This recipie is just as easy equally making regular mashed potatoes. Everyone in my house loved these mashed potatoes completely. Even my mother-in-law who hates mashed actually liked these ones.
There is no mode this recipe tin piece of work equally written and then I followed tips from other users and adjusted the ingredients, otherwise there would exist too much cheese. I also added a few splashes of heavy cream to get the consistency I wanted. With my adjustments they came out very good.
Quite possibly the Best mashed potatoes I accept eaten in my life. Perfect for my trial Thanksgiving Dinner today.
Groovy mashed potatoes with lots and lots of season!
Very very yummy!! I am a huge mashed pototoes fan, and wanted something a footling different than grandma's classic.. the garlic and parmesan actually class up these tators to create culinary magic!
This recipe's flavors were astounding. We made this for Thanksgiving dinner and it stole the show. Everyone agreed that it was the best role of the repast! The only matter I will modify next time I brand this is to utilise slightly less garlic - it was pretty strong, which is why I'grand giving it a 4 rather than a 5. If you dear lots of garlic though, leave this as is.
These didn't work well at all. Likewise much garlic flavor and the texture was off. The potatoes became all grainy from the parmesan and they weren't flossy plenty. I tried adding milk to thin them out but nothing helped. Thanks for the post though!
These were then yummy! Thanks!
These mashed potatoes are proficient, but I didn't find them to exist something I would make once again. I love garlic and cream cheese and all that proficient stuff in my potatoes, and take found other recipes I seem to like better. Thank you!
I Give this Recipe 4 1/2 stars. I loved the taste but every bit others take suggested the consistency is a little thick. I used a container of Philadalphia Whipped Cream Cheese (cutting recipe dorsum to serve 4) but side by side time I think I'll use half the cream cheese and one-half light sour cream. Or perhaps add milk...I still take to tweak a fleck. I used red potatoes and left the skin on. I too added a turnip to the mix and I loved that! I would cut back on the garlic a scrap also.....was a little overpowering. Swell base recipe though! Cheers!!!!
These are the best potatoes with a footling adjustment. I only used 4 oz. of cream cheese and one/2 c of Parmesean cheese. Iy was the perfecr amount for my family unit and the gustation was astonishing. I used a little bit of milk when whipping them besides.
We love these potatoes, and they are so easy!
Dear these. I recommend to make them shut to the original recipe. Adding extra milk does diminish the great taste, simply can be necessary. Just know you may need to increase other ingredients with too much milk.
Delicious..just I do suggest to be conscientious with how much cream cheese you add together, otherwise these become likewise heavy.
I should have read the other reviews before I started cooking. I only had one cup of parmesan cheese on hand, and even with that halved amount it dominated the sense of taste of the potatoes! Even with the suggestions of other reviewers I do not call up I would brand this again.
Love these potatoes! I actually brand them ahead and then put them in individual size souflee dishes and broil them. If they are common cold well-nigh 30 min on 350 if frozen about 45 mins to an hour. Throw a few italian breadstuff crumbs, parm and chives on superlative. They turn out golden brown on the pinnacle and are so pretty.
I liked the flavor nevertheless I plant these potatoes to be extremely dry (and I fifty-fifty added some heavy cream). I would probably make these again but add together some more milk or cream to brand it creamier.
I made this for Thanksgiving last year and my family unit RAVED over this recipe. I had to tweak it a fleck for our big size, but information technology ended up groovy!! EASILY 5 STARS!!!!!!!!!
These are fantastic!! Suit appropriately and to your taste. My family gobbled them upwards and my 4 yr former had seconds. A keeper for certain!! Cheers!?
Awesome potatoes! These are my married man'southward new favorite. Easy to make and makes peachy leftovers!
this recipe was skillful. I used low fat where possible and only did one-half the amount of cream cheese. Don't overmix... this turns gluey very rapidly!!
Wow. I have never made real mashed potatoes earlier, and I have no idea why non! They were very easy to make. I doubled the butter and used evaporated milk, but merely iii/4 loving cup. I think it would've been too liquidy if I had used a whole cup. Check out the allrecipes footstep by footstep guide to making mashed potatoes - that helped me out by listing all of the steps in detail. I will never go back to potatoes in the box!
A new twist to everyday mashed potatoes...
Anybody idea the potatoes were as well salty and garlicy. I did merely as the recipe said but they are really just mashed potatoes that aren't too special. But they are proficient.
A chip heavy on the garlic, but a neat and easy recipe for a starting time time cook similar me. My family loved information technology. Cooking time for potatoes was longer than 15 min. The store I went to was out of Yukon Gold potatoes so I used red potatoes.
These were very thick, since no liquid was added. My hubby loved them, and while they did have a wonderful gustation, I felt there was maybe a bit as well much garlic; of form, that could be adjusted by the size of the cloves used. And, per other reviewers, I added some chili pulverisation, and some cayenne (1/4 tsp)and thought the additions were a bit overpowering; mayhap cut dorsum to 1/8 tsp of the cayenne.
Best EVER! Don't change anything.
they tasted great simply were a bit thick for my liking so i added milk
I listened to some of the other reviews and sub'd i cup half and half for i cup Parmesan cheese... The potatoes were a beautiful consistency! These potatoes no doubt live up to their proper name... They are the all-time potatoes, yummmmmmm!
This is nigh exactly my recipe for mashed potatoes only I get one step further on the fat scale and use one/2 cup half & half rather than all milk. These are truly the creamiest and best tasting mashed potatoes and you can alter the recipe past adding garlic or cheddar cheese - chives ... whatever your taste buds are calling for!!
I fabricated these potatoes for Easter and they were and so yummy! All my invitee'south thought they were corking.
Worked out dazzler in my quest to use up what nosotros've got on manus. Unfortunately, I agree with mandalin84... These were merely "meh" - even with the changes I fabricated. (2 lbs Yukons, three oz RF Foam Cheese, 1/iv cp butter, scattering of parmesan, garlic, milk - oh, left the skins on the 'tatoes, as well). Doubtful if this will have a repeat operation.
Very tasty! would make again. Doesnt reheat well.
I used one-half of the parmesan cheese and they still tasted like parmesan with potatoes...instead of potatoes with parmesan. They were and then rich! I won't be making these again without some serious modifications.
I didn't use foam cheese but used sour cream. I didn't measure annihilation and used this recipe as a guide. Delicious!!!!! Boyfriend had two servings with homemade mushroom gravy.
Very adept and flavorful dish.
Overall, we really liked these mashed potatoes. Side by side time I will not add together and so much foam cheese, and instead add milk. I added some fresh bacon $.25!! Yum! Thanks for a bully recipe
Besides pasty and as well much chive and cheese flavour. I wish I had read the poor reviews before I started cooking. Hoping I can salvage this with their tips!
i doubled this recipe and it was a huge hit for xmas! Definitely will be making again!
I added some milk and h2o so the mashed potatoes would be a ameliorate consistency. Without these 2 items, the potato consistency was very sticky and glue like but even so tasted great. Served with "Melt-In-Your-Mouth Meat Loaf" and broccoli.
I've fabricated this and then many times, since I found this recipe. Information technology really is a family unit favorite!
VERY GOOD!!!! My family loved these potatoes!! I couldn't get fresh chives simply used green onions instead and the results were all the same wonderful! Pretty easy to do but I didn't have a masher so had to use my husband and his muscles with a wooden spoon instead. First-class... this is a must-try!
The potatoes were groovy! My dh fifty-fifty went back for seconds! I didn't take fresh chives and then I used dried and they still tasted corking. Also, I didn't use ii cups of Parmesan cheese, more like 1/2 cup. Definitely volition make again!
Sorry, only these were definitely Not the BEST mashed potatoes, merely they were ok and I would consider making them again.
5 stars on the season, but I recollect this recipe needs some milk added due to dryness. Adjacent fourth dimension I will add some milk.
put in half a cup of chives, substituted foam cheese for a loving cup f sour foam, used 1/three cup butter, and 1/3 cup parmesan cheese, while too using about 3 lbs of potatoes.
Great Recipe.. Add buttermilk and it gives information technology an extra zing!
Excellent! I didn't have cream cheese, and just used a little whole milk in its place.
This is great. Information technology has been a long fourth dimension since I made mashed pototatos and forgot how long they cook. Near 30min for two fyi. This recipe is easy and tastes great. I highly recomend it.
Pretty practiced! In regards to the "pound of potatoes"..all the yukon golds I am able to get at my grocery shop are MUCH smaller than regular blistering potatoes. With that said, I used a two lb handbag of yukons...which took me forever to peel all those little guys. Also, I used ane 8oz foam cheese with chives instead of adding fresh chives and added a little half & half to get in easier to mash and mix. Pretty good and went well with our steak dinner concluding nighttime ("Awesome Steak Marinade" from this site). Would make these over again!
I really love this blazon of potatoes, I order them as a side when my married man & I go out to our favorite resturant. The kids on the other manus kinda "scanned" over them, (I'g sure it was all of the "green" from the chives). Thanks Christina!
my husband said these were really good. but i thought that they had a weird texture. i fabricated but equally the recipe said, except nosotros didnt have chives- so i omitted those. and i added some milk considering they seemed really thick.
Like others who've tried this recipe I maid a few adjustments of my ain. It did turn out adept though. Its a good base recipe and should exist adapted to meet your family's taste.
We love these! We are lazy and use the steam and mash and so add all the goodies. Still works bully.
